Fortunate are those who are able to make sense in the chaos around us.
THROUGHOUT THE VARIOUS CHAPTERS IN THIS BOOK, I HAVE tried to share my thoughts and life lessons that have directed me to what and where I am in my life and, more importantly, who I am as a person.
Some of these basic building blocks, if done right over a long period, lead to a compound effect in personal wealth, prosperity, well-being and peace-both in heart and mind-and around us in relationships, society and the ecosystem at large.
The story culminates with these principles of life that have served me well and likely shall for readers too. Broadly, these have been grouped under various headers across the three parts of the book.
- Personal life: Through my parents’ (‘Bimtek’) value system, Sanskaars and lessons-both good and bad, wins and defeats, beautiful and not so that have humbled me and given me pain, pleasure and, importantly, learning. Each step is an opportunity to introspect, reflect and build on becoming a better person. Also included are spiritual learnings through my association with Shri Anandpur Trust and Paramhans Dayalji, as well as experiences with and insights about different religions, faiths and meditation at large, helping rise above our trivial day-to-day struggles to understand and appreciate the purpose of human life and general conduct. This appreciation has kept me centred, maintaining equanimity, calm and composure in the most challenging life situations.
- Professional life: Through working with and under the guidance of some of the best people across industries and geographies worldwide. It is about the idea of giving back, not just personally and socially, but also professionally. It is about investing in people and the broader ecosystem. And at the individual level, it means defining our vision, desires and dreams and sticking to the process of moving from the ideation phase to devising a plan to work on the idea and thereafter working on it with consistency, discipline and patience. Sticking to long-term directional objectives and keeping at it has worked out just fine for me over the past few decades. It’s about keeping things simple and sticking to the plan each day, which works wonders over the long term.
- Readings: ‘Standing on the shoulders of giants’-learning from some of the best, most successful people and their biggest mistakes and boy, has that helped! Not only to say ‘no’ and avoid pitfalls but also to cut through the noise and focus on the low-hanging fruits in life. The primary understanding is that life doesn’t have to be difficult or made difficult by our choices; it can be made much simpler and more efficient if we keep our eyes and ears open to the wisdom from some of the best people who were gracious enough to share their experiences and learnings for all of us to absorb and apply.
How can we all be happier, wiser and hopefully richer? For happiness is like a butterfly the more we chase it, the more it eludes us. The moment we focus on our tasks, it quietly comes and shrugs our shoulders like a cool breeze.

It is the trust in the process that everything eventually normalises with effort or the fact that worldly success and money somehow just follows.
And overall, living a healthy lifestyle with gratitude and principles that define our character is a tried and tested ‘simple but not easy’ route to peace of mind, clarity and a better life overall.
Such has been the aspiration behind writing this book.
Not to inspire, but to encourage. Not to guide, but to suggest.
To push some of you readers to find the best version of yourselves. To cut through the noise around us, find our true purpose, our personal ikigai-and make an impact in whatever we choose to do!
