Book Review
“Blue” by Devashish Makhija, with illustrations by Satwik Gade, is a gentle and imaginative picture book about following your heart, curiosity, and the invisible connections that guide us. At the centre of the story is a mysterious string that seems to lead its character towards new people, places, and possibilities. The writing is simple yet dreamlike, inviting children to wonder where the string might go and what it might lead to. Rather than giving every answer, the book leaves room for young readers to imagine and discover their own meaning.

The illustrations by Satwik Gade make “Blue” especially engaging. Bold lines, playful shapes, splashes of blue, red and orange, and striking black-and-white images give each page a lively, handmade feel. The unusual artwork works beautifully with the poetic text, turning the book into something to explore as much as read. “Blue” may not tell a traditional, straightforward story, but its sense of mystery, colour, and imagination makes it an interesting journey for children who enjoy stories that leave a little space for their own imagination.
